Duba Plains revealed and explored
Flying over the Okavango delta is simply breathtaking. When this unique and wonderful continent was created, with all its mysteries and wild places, the Okavango was not with us. Through the planets own shear will it was created. With her internal forces of molten magma, subterranean quakes and constantly changing crusts, this unique paradise was formed. In Northern Botswana mother earth's crust twisted, shifted and subsided, and the rivers that flowed over this area were diverted and channeled in a
The Super Mom of the Kalahari
When we read books about lions, books that have taken months and years to compile using research painstakingly conducted over generations, we still don’t often come across stories about these incredible beasts like the one I am going to describe here. When we read about lions, we are told that on average they will give birth to approximately 2-4 litters and seldom more than that. A healthy lioness in the prime of her life, will usually have around 4 cubs in

Luxury Islands
We have all dreamt about or imagined spending time on a tropical beach on a remote island. It is the epitome of relaxation. Some of these islands are in the most remote locations, but have a sense of luxury and pure relaxation that

It has been an amazing start to the year so far. The first quarter is now behind us, and to showcase some of our safari highlights, we have put together our best images from Africa 2017. A compilation of experiences we have together with our guests on safari. We have travelled between the Sabi Sands, the Timbavati, Northern KZN, southern Kalahari, the Okavango Delta and the Linyanti. The grey giants of Africa
The question is, are we happy to suppose that our grandchildren may never be able to see an elephant except in a picture book? - David Attenborough As a conservationist, safari guide and animal lover of all things big and small, the above statement terrifies me. For those of you like me who have had the privilege of spending time around these magical beasts, to think of a world without elephants is something I cannot fathom. Never to hear the low
The Leopard and the Genet
"When was the last time you saw a Leopard?" When trying to start this story, I battled for an opening line. One that would entice you the reader, to read more. I put many ideas down, but none, I feel, worked as well as the one here: "When was the last time you saw a leopard?" The reason this line captivated me so much, is because I imagine there are many people out there, possibly even reading this story, who have
A week in the Linyanti and Okavango Delta
We kicked off this year with another Botswana adventure to the infamous and incredibly beautiful Linyanti and Okavango regions. Crystal clear swamps, rolling floodplains and shaded woodlands were just some of the amazing terrain we explored. Expecting everything to be rather dull and dry as a result of the severe drought Southern Africa has endured; we were rather blown away by how much water the region has had in recent weeks. The bush is transformed into a green jewel, flourishing and
